Here’s a list of quilty related things I would like to accomplish this year:
Embroidery – Sort of done. See the cupcake block. The embroidery part is finished. I just need to decide what to do with it. I do want to do more embroidery though.
Windows – Also sort of done. See windows wall hanging. The top is pieced. I just need to sandwich and quilt it. However, the quilting comes with another of the things I would like to accomplish this year.
Free Motion Quilting – I started practicing FMQ. I want to quilt the windows wall hanging using my FMQ skills. I have quite a bit of more practicing to do before I’m comfortable FMQ’ing an actual piece.
Scraps – I want to organize my scraps. I want to cut them into strips, squares, and triangles.
KCMQG Kandinsky Challenge – I’m very exited for this and I already have an idea of what I want to do. I also have some of the fabric, but I need to get more. I would also like to FMQ this wall hanging, but again…I need more practice.
RNL Sound Room Covers – Work has commissioned me to make some covers for a couple of desks and file cabinets to make them more sound proof. I think this is going to be a fun and fulfilling project. I’ve never made covers before, but it seems fairly simple. It’s also a pretty large project and I think I will feel very satisfied at the end. Andrew will be out of town at the end of the month and that seems like the perfect time to accomplish this project.
Dress Up Your Roll – The Dress Up Your Roll Challenge is hosted by Quilt Jane. I have soooo many ideas. I also found out about this challenge while I was laid up after getting my wisdom teeth removed, so some of my ideas might have been a little weird due to the pain medication. However, I really really want to find time to create a few of the zillion ideas I had.
Placemats – I cannot tell you why I want to make these because they are for a friend that might read this.
?? – Again, I can’t tell you what this is because it will give away the secret. It’s for the same friend.
Scarf – Our friend would like a scarf. The issue is that he lives in San Diego. I don’t know why we would want a scarf since it never gets cold enough in San Diego to wear one, but I suppose he could travel to colder climates. I also have no idea how to make a scarf for a guy. This one should be interesting. I definitely need to do some research.
iPad Sleeve – I am making another one of these for a friend. I bought some robot fabric while on vacation just for this purpose.
Hand Quilting – I already completed this project for the Modern Mini Challenge. My Modern Mini is nothing outstanding, but it was definitely fun. I do want to do more hand quilting, though.
Mug Rug Swap – The KC Modern Quilt Guild is having a mug rug swap in March. I have never made a mug rug, so I definitely want to participate in this swap.
I’d say that’s a pretty good list. There are no full sized quilts on there, but I will probably finish at least one this year. I have quite a few pre-cuts that I would like to use. Basically…I just want to stay home and quilt for the rest of the year. I can dream…
