At the last meeting for the KC Modern Quilt Guild, our president and another member gave a quick presentation on how they store their fabric.
They wrap their fabric on comic book boards. The boards are made to keep comic books from bending. The boards are extremely cheap. I bought packages of 100 for $9.99 each. If you live in the KC area, I recommend B Bop Comics on 95th and Nall.
Basically, they turned my stash into a mini fabric shop. So awesome!!!!!
If the fabric piece was long enough to wrap around once, I put it on a board. You could easily get two or three yards on one board. Most of mine are fat quarters or half yard cuts. I pulled fabric for a project and it was sooo easy to remove and put back on the shelf. There was no folding involved. I totally recommend that everybody do this with their stash.
