I finished the chevron baby quilt while visiting my parents last weekend. I had the top complete, but I didn’t know how to do the back. I had fleece that I wanted to use. As soon as I showed my mom, she mentioned Jenny Doan’s (from Missouri Star) easy receiving blanket tutorial. It was perfect. It’s funny because the chevrons were inspired by another of her tutorials. This entire quilt is a Missouri Star quilt.
I used my mom’s Janome Horizon. I’ve talked about it before. Basically, I have sewing machine envy. I love my machine, but hers is in an entirely separate category. It’s like a Mercedes/BMW/Lexus/any-other-expensive-car compared to a Ford/Chevy/Honda/any-other-fairly-cheap-car. My sewing machine will get you where you need to go, but hers will get you there in style.
I was planning on doing some more quilting, but after using the decorative stitch, I decided it didn’t need any more since it was a baby quilt. I didn’t want the quilting to become too dense and the quilt to lose all of the snuggliness. All I have left to do is add a label and then this quilt is off to a baby shower.
