Chevron Wiksten Tank Top

I know I’m a little late to the Wiksten game, but I’ve only been sewing apparel for a year or so and the Wiksten patterns really took off in 2012. I’ve been wanting to make both the Tank and Tova patterns for almost the entire last year, but the Tova was a little intimidating because of the inset and the sleeves and I wasn’t going to buy the Tank without the Tova. Silly, I know. Anyway, I finally did it. I started with the Tank.

It’s awesome. I love how it’s loose, but is still a flattering shape. The pocket is totally awesome, too.

I love chevrons. I used the same chevron fabric that I used for the latest infinity scarves, except in aqua. I bought a meter of each when PickYourPlum had it on sale. It’s not 100% cotton…I think it’s a poly blend. Anyway, it’s very light and summery and doesn’t wrinkle too badly. I used shot cotton for the pocket and bias bindings.

I hate binding shirts or whatever you call it. And this tank has three places for it! The neckline and the two armholes. Yuck! However, it does make a really nice finish. I made an XS and it fits perfectly!
