I’m just going to say it…I don’t get the whole Christmas in July deal. It’s not Christmas. It’s July. If the goal is to get me excited for Christmas, then it fails. Thinking about Christmas in July makes me depressed because 1) I have to wait five more months until the real Christmas and 2) I need to get started on making presents and worrying if I will have enough time to finish them. See? Christmas in July is simply a marketing tool to get everybody to start stressing over gifts and buying stuff to make presents. I know I sound like a scrooge, but I just cannot get excited about it. Also, I am not a fan of Christmas designs. You can only use the one month out of the year if they are Christmas themed. I try to stay away from anything that I can’t use for more than a few months at a time. However, I said I wasn’t interested in baby quilts and I absolute loved making Annabelle’s quilt even though I was dreading it. So maybe there is hope that I might one day enjoy Christmas designs and projects and fabric.
BUT…since Christmas in July seems to be the topic of conversation, I brought out the one Christmas themed item I have made. My sister and I hand sewed each of the yo-yos. I have to admit; it’s pretty darn cute. So there…there’s my Christmas in July spirit.
