Private Sewing Lesson(s)

Sewing Machine Rental – NEW

If you do not have a sewing machine or do not want to bring you sewing machine to class, you can rent one from me for the duration of the class.

Modern Sewing for Advanced Beginners

Sewing is a very rewarding craft, hobby, and skill and there has been a great resurgence of handmade crafting recently. If you took Modern Sewing for Beginners, have taken sewing classes before, or have some sewing skills, then this is the next course for you. The course will walk you through four advanced projects from School of Sewing and allow you to choose an additional project from the book for the last session.

Intro to Knits: Raglan Sweatshirt

If you find sewing with knits intimidating, this is the class for you! In this class, we will use the ‘Relaxed Raglan’ pattern from Patterns for Pirates to create a knit sweatshirt with raglan sleeves. No serger is needed and newbies are welcome.

Intro to Sewing: Speedy Pillowcase

Are you just learning to sew and need a little encouragement and some help? This class is for you! Let me help you navigate your sewing machine while making this pillowcase from ‘The School of Sewing.’ We will cover all the basics and you will leave with a finished project! No experience necessary.

The Lark Tee

Mix and match the four neckline and sleeve options to create your perfect tee using ‘The Lark Tee” pattern from Grainline Studio! No serger needed! Bring your pre-washed knit fabric, a pack of ballpoint needles, and your sewing machine and leave with a finished shirt!

School of Sewing Class

Choose a project from the School of Sewing book! Whether it’s the zipper pouch, apron, tote bag, or any of the other projects in the book, I will walk you through the instructions.

My First Quilt (Part 1, 2, 3)

This class is for all of those who would love to learn how to make a quilt. If you have basic sewing skills, you CAN quilt! We will be using School of Sewing as a resource and will be covering each step of quilt-making in two sessions. Part 1 will cover fabric cutting and piecing your quilt top. Part 2 will cover basting and machine quilting. Part 3 will cover binding!

Modern Apparel Sewing with Knits for Beginners

Sewing is a very rewarding craft, hobby, and skill and there has been a great resurgence of handmade crafting recently. If you took either of the Modern Sewing classes, have taken sewing classes before, or have some sewing skills and want to delve into apparel sewing, then this is the next course for you. You will learn how to purchase, print, put together, and read a PDF sewing pattern, buy apparel fabric, and sew knit apparel projects. Projects will be beginner friendly, fit forgiving, and in a large range of sizes for every shape. You will finish the course with four projects, two tops and two bottoms.

Modern Intermediate Sewing

If you took either of the Beginner Modern Sewing classes, have taken sewing classes before, or have some sewing skills and want to take your sewing to the next level, then this is the next course for you. The course will focus on specific techniques to advance your sewing skills. New techniques will include foundation paper piecing, English paper piecing, sewing curves, matchstick quilting, and sewing zippers.

Modern Intermediate Sewing 2

If you took either of the Beginner Modern Sewing classes or the first Modern Intermediate Sewing class, have taken sewing classes before, or have some sewing skills and want to take your sewing to the next level, then this is the next course for you. The course will focus on specific techniques to advance your sewing skills. New techniques will include working with interfacing, tiny piecing, embroidery, and piping.

Modern Quilting for Advanced Beginners

Sewing is a very rewarding craft, hobby, and skill and there has been a great resurgence of handmade crafting recently. If you took either of the Modern Sewing classes, have taken sewing classes before, or have some sewing skills and want to take on a bigger project, then this is the next course for you. You will learn how to cut, piece, sandwich, quilt, and bind a quilt. You will finish the course with a completed quilt to snuggle up in!

Modern Sewing for Baby

Sewing is a very rewarding craft, hobby, and skill and there has been a great resurgence of handmade crafting recently. This course will focus on projects for the babies (or future babies) in your life. The projects would also make great baby shower gifts. Whether you are a beginner who is still getting familiar with your machine or more advanced and want some fun baby project ideas, this is a great next course for you. You will finish the course with multiple items including blankets, apparel, and toys.

Modern Serging for Beginners

If you, like many crafters and sewists, have a serger/overlock that rarely gets used, this class will show you how to make the most of that machine. You will learn how to thread, change needles, and set up your machine for different stitches. Projects will be beginner friendly and you will finish the course with at least four completed projects.

Modern Sewing for Beginners

You will learn how to properly use a sewing machine and sewing tools, shop for fabric and supplies, read a sewing pattern, and complete handmade items.
