I’ve been bitten by the hexie bug. My mom has been doing some English Paper Piecing for awhile now and I’ve been seeing EPP projects all over blogs. I’ve been wanting to learn, but I was waiting for a time so Mom could teach me and I learned when she visited a couple of weekends ago.

English Paper Piecing

Mom had given me a mini charm pack of Kansas Troubles fabric a while ago. The Kansas Troubles designer, Lynne Hagmeier, lives fairly close to where I’m originally from. My mom’s quilt guild had her speak at one of their meetings and my mom picked up the mini charm packs then. The fabric isn’t really my style, but the mini charm packs are so cute that I fell in love anyway. And the 2.5″ squares are soooo perfect for English Paper Piecing. I’m excited to start digging into my charm pack stash and into my solids stash when I’m finished with this first hexie project. It would be so easy to cut up regular charm pack squares for this…

I love EPP! I’m working on a scrappy hexie quilt top now. I get to feel a little productive while watching TV.

That’s the best thing about any hand sewing…watching TV while doing it! I always feel so guilty for watching TV and EPP totally take the guilt away! 🙂
