How I Plan Out a Project

Whenever I don’t have an exact pattern to follow, just a picture or an idea, I draw out the quilt to scale on graph paper.

It’s a little insane and extremely detailed, but it makes me feel comfortable about starting the project.

Here’s my latest…

Crossword Quilt Plan

This explains everything including where the squares/blocks go, what types of fabrics I need, what fabrics go where, how much I need of each fabric, how it will be quilted, and dimensions. Block Charts helped me figure out how many 2.5 inch square I can get out of a fat quarter. Sew Country is having a fat quarter sale when I’ll be home so I’m planning on buying all of the fabric when I’m there.
