I took Jenifer Dick’s Invisible Machine Applique class. I really like applique and I was somewhat fascinated by the short 10-15 minute tutorial she gave at one of the KC MQG meetings.
The class was fabulous. Jenifer is funny, down to earth, patient, and a great teacher. Everything was very very easy to follow.
I ran into a little bit of an issue using the invisible thread. I had some Gutermann’s invisible thread on hand so that’s what I brought to the class. That thread DOES NOT work. I struggled and struggled and adjusted and adjusted and could not get the tension right. I was afraid that it was my machine, but once Jenifer noticed that I was using Gutermann’s, she knew that was the issue. Sulky and Superior work fine, but Gutermann’s just doesn’t cut it.
I managed to finish the project…it’s just not invisible applique. I still want to try the invisible method, but I’ll have to wait until I make it somewhere to buy more thread.
