Remember all of those fun projects I was working on last week? Well, they were all for Kate. She graduated this last weekend from the University of Kansas with a Master’s Degree in Architecture. Her studio is in the process of building an entire building. It is not finished, but is extremely impressive. We went to the open house. I had seen the building previously when they were working on the roof, but I had not seen any progress. It is absolutely amazing what a bunch of students can do. The building is an assembly space for the Center for Research and Design. It has solar panels, a wind turbine, and an entire wall of windows that tint based on the sunlight. We got to see the makings of a living wall made of moss and ferns and a tram wall that will heat/cool the space. I wish I could explain how amazing it is what Kate and her studio have accomplished. I can’t wait to see the space finished. I made her a very cute gift basket to celebrate her birthday (which was a week ago), graduation, and open house.
Cute, right? The wine bottles have the two wine bottle covers I made last week. I added two additional pinwheels. I found the napkins and wine glasses at Bed Bath and Beyond. Of course, the card I made is in there and another cute little wallet-like thing. And I found wine stoppers at Bed Bath and Beyond. Hobby Lobby had tons of adorable baskets on sale, which is where I found this one.
I’m already planning what I’m going to make my sister for her graduation next year.
