Since I wasn’t able to go to the fabric store over lunch because I had to meet the dryer repair man, I will display my latest finished project. I got the kit from Sew Country in Belleville, KS. The patttern is called Sidelights by Mountainpeek Creations. I can’t wait to use more of their patterns. I modified it slightly to become a wall hanging. Here’s a few pictures of the process…
Mom and I had a quilting extravaganza one weekend. We were able to put the top together with her machine, which is so much easier and faster than mine. She also taught me how to paper piece this weekend. I LOVE LOVE LOVE paper piecing.
There’s the first part of the back that I quilted. The arcs were my idea and I love how they turned out. The back is almost as interesting as the front.
That’s the finished back. I was so proud of myself. The stencil for those little flowers is called Twisted Petals.
You have no idea how difficult it was to create each of those little designs on my machine. My wrists hurt like crazy, but I am so proud of them.
And there’s the finished product. I added the little jewels. I just love them and they really sparkle with the bedroom light on.
And there’s another picture of it finished. Somehow the lighting makes our walls look yellow here. They aren’t. They are a purple/mauve/grey color. I can’t remember the exact name of the paint color, but I love it.
In order to keep occupied until I get more fabric, I’m going to start just creating blocks from a book my mom gave me and from the cute little block calendar that I have. I’m also going to do some paper piecing. I think it will make good practice. And maybe eventually I will have enough blocks to make a sampler. I’m not a fan of samplers at all. They go against my need for organization and things “going together,” but if I have the blocks, I might as well do something with them. Let me know if you have any favorite blocks that I should try out.

Love, love your pictures!!! I love the quilt and the sparklies! Wish you could help me with the trunk show. My car is loaded. Luann Wilson – Hidden Treasures Quilt Shop was supposed to give the program at guild and her mother died. So… I will give the trunk show twice. Love you,
Aunt Cathy
