Thank you to the boyfriend for taking pictures.

There’s a Flickr group for all of the entries. We’re showing ours off at the next guild meeting.

Look at all of that pebble quilting. It took forever, but it was a lot of fun. Not without injury…I did put a needle through part of my finger. Just the side of my finger…and it only hurt for a little bit. But I was more careful after that.

I’m not 100% pleased with it, but I’m still proud of myself. There’s room for improvement and I don’t think this will be my last pebble quilting attempt.

I will say that I’m not a fan of heavy quilting. The quilt is so stiff and the back seems like a nest of thread. It’s not a nest of thread, but that’s what it seems like. If I was every going to use a quilt, I would not quilt it this heavily. However, it’s OK for this quilt.

The challenge was to take a traditional block or quilt pattern and a modern twist to it. I used granny squares. Some are wonky…

    Wow!
    Wow!!
    And triple Wow!!
Wonky must be another word for great, because this is.
The pebbling is beautiful, and the outside edge looks fun too – it looks like little waves.

Thanks, Kim! I wanted the binding to really highlight the edges of the quilt since there’s so much negative space.

And on a completely different topic, I just realized that I have the fun swirrly teal quilt block next to each of my comments. Is that my official sign for this blog series? That is SOOOOOOOO cool!! :):):):):):)

Haha! Yes, I guess that’s your official sign. I have one, too…I guess they are randomly assigned because Mom’s is different than both of ours. :)

You have a sign! It’s a purple block…it looks like it has a nine patch in the middle with flying geese in the corners. :)
