I cut up all of the square for the Madrona Road granny squares, laid them out, and pieced one block. There are four blocks that will be made of 4.25″ squares and five blocks that will be made of 2″ squares. I’m going to get them all made and then I will cut them all wonky-like.
Those are the four 4.25″ blocks. I didn’t lay the white squares out with them.
And those are the five 2″ blocks.
I used every single bit of the seven fat eighths that I received. There were literally less than .5″ strips left when I was finished. I like I have eight 2″ squares left. I might randomly place them in the quilt…or maybe on the back. My plan is to complete all of the blocks, then cut them down, and then place them randomly in a quilt top with a lot of white negative space. This could end up being quite a large top.
I finished one of the 4.25″ blocks last night. Cute, huh? I’m actually thinking I might cut some of them correctly and others wonky just to provide even more of a contrast between traditional and modern. The fabric is modern enough that this doesn’t look like a traditional granny square, but still.
Gah! I’m so excited for this quilt. 🙂
