This mini check off two things I wanted to complete this year: a mini and hand quilting. I really enjoy hand sewing whether it’s embroidery, quilting, or crocheting. I think I will definitely be doing more of it this year.
It’s also my entry for the Modern Mini Challenge. This mini measures 18″ x 12″.

The pieced center block is from Jenifer Dick over at 42 Quilts. She has Modern Monday and Traditional Tuesday series. I pulled this block from the Modern Monday – Block 19 post. The pink and blue are Moda Bella Solids. The white is just a good quality muslin. The rest of the quilt is all Sugar Pop fabric.
You can see the hand quilting. I should have used a better thread color, but I didn’t think about that until after I was almost halfway through. White always works…it’s just not as fun.
I had the swirly template at home and used a Frixion pen. I LOVE Fixion pens. The swirly pattern is also on the outside border.
The back is another Sugar Pop fabric. I finished it right after we arrived in San Diego and immediately bound it and added a sleeve when I got home.
This will hang in my quilting closet, although it may make a trip to work to hang next to my desk.
