A year ago, Val, my mom, and my aunt got together for a sewing weekend. Val was making baby quilts for her nieces. She got them pieced, quilted, and the binding sewn on. And she even got the applique done on one. This weekend we got together and she finished them up.
The applique wasn’t complete on this quilt and she finished that. The only thing left is to hand sew the binding.
She decided to use a zig zag stitch to applique the flowers in place. I like how it looks like scribbles. I think it’s perfect for a baby.
The pattern for this quilt came from a Moda Bake Shop tutorial. It uses a layer cake. She had quite a few of the layer cake pieces left over and she has been using them to make hot pads. I’m not sure which line this layer cake was from, but it’s absolutely adorable. I love the ginghams.
Val sent me this picture on Sunday night. She hand sewed the binding on the other quilt she made. These’s really are so adorable. If I ever get a layer cake and need to make some fast and easy baby quilts, this is definitely what I’m going to do.
