I had a weekend full of sewing…with my mom!!! Well, we took a couple of breaks to go to Joann Fabrics and to JCPenney. I found some great Denyse Schmidt remnants at Joann’s and bought a couple of shorts and some dresses at Penney’s. My mom also made out great at Penney’s. She pretty much bought an entire summer wardrobe. It was awesome!
We had the best time no matter what we were doing. I finished the scrubs test pattern that I posted about yesterday. I also worked on a truck block that I’m going to make into a pillow.
It’s not finished. I still have to figure out the very right side of the block. I got the idea from Melissa at Happy Quilting. The measurements for the block are at her Flickr group Beejeebers. I plan on making one for my dad, my grandpa, and my uncle. My grandparents and parents own a trucking company, so I grew up around semis my entire life. At one point, I think we had 18 trucks. My dad and grandpa never drove during that time, but four or five years ago, they downsized the company and began hauling grain, fertilizer, etc. locally. Besides the three family members, they have one other driver now.
My mom also accomplished a lot even though she spent quite a bit of time helping me with the scrubs.
These two projects were complete. The chicken and the nest is a challenge for her quilt guild. The May hanging will go on her cute little hanger. She has made quite a few hangings already for holidays and is now moving onto months.
She finished June on Saturday.
She was able to get July laid out, but not sewn. My sister picked out the fabrics for August while she was there on Sunday. Her boyfriend’s mother also quilts and needed some advice about some layouts and colors, so they visited on Sunday. Basically, it was one of the best weekends ever!
